Commencement Timeline and Procedures
Penultimate Semester Before Degree Date:
- Students put themselves on L & S degree list through Tele-Bears or by petition;
- Students complete a degree check with major advisors (Lisa Robinson or Melissa Hacker) to ensure that all major requirements have been met;
- Students complete a degree check with Letters and Science advisors (113 Campbell Hall) to ensure that all college and university requirements have been met. You may wish to run a DARS report prior to your L & S degree check; and,
- Students who are planning to participate in the Spring Commencement Ceremony must register on the Department of Music's on-line website (beginning November 15 and ending April 15). Please list your name, as you would like it to be listed in the commencement program.
March: Commencement information (including cap and gown rentals, honors, commencement meeting) is sent by e-mail to the Music Major list-serve. Master's students must submit Advancement to Candidacy forms to Student Affairs Officer by the end of the fourth week of classes.
April: Meeting for students who are participating in the Commencement Ceremony with Chair, Commencement Coordinator, and student advisors. This meeting will cover commencement logistics.
May: Commencement typically takes place in Hertz Hall on the second or third Sunday in May beginning at noon with a concert by the Eisner Prize recipients. After conferral of graduate and undergraduate degrees, there will be a reception in the lobby of Hertz Hall. See the Academic Calendar for the exact date of Commencement.
