Alumni Galleries
The Department of Music inaugurated a series of Welcome Back events for Music alumni in 2006. The first Sunday afternoon gathering took place in April on the Hertz Hall stage, where 25 graduates enjoyed renewing acquaintances with the department and performing for each other. Those attending suggested that we consider hosting more of the same, one each term. In both spring and fall semester 2007 and 2008, alums gathered, conversed, and made music for and with one another.
In the spring of 2007, we also hosted returnees from the University Chorus, Chamber Chorus, and University Symphony at evening concerts.

Welcome Back 1: April 9, 2006, hosted by Bonnie Wade, Davitt Moroney, and Martha Wasley (faculty). The event on the Hertz Hall stage was partially inspired by Marilyn Kew (BA 1949), who did not have the opportunity to perform on the Hertz Hall stage (the music buildings were constructed in 1958). Performing on the Hertz Hall stage: Martha Wasley (BA 1970), Scott Merrick (MA 1953), Alice Mae Keller (BA 1953), Dan Scharlin (UCLA 1953, attended Cal in the 1950s), and music student Jared Redmond (BA 2007).

Performing on the Hertz Hall stage: Gregory Allison (BA 1978), Mitch Landy (MA 1971), Suzanne Ciani (MA 1970), Kristin Brooks-Davidman (BA 1973), Elaine Schnaidt (BA 1974), Gunnar Madsen (BA 1979), and music faculty member Martha Wasley (BA 1970).
