Piano Music 405 Placement

The first Friday of classes each semester. For exact date see the Music Department Academic Calendar. Although keyboard proficiency is not required to enter the music major, all music majors will need keyboard skills to complete the musicianship and harmony series. If you are an intending music major and have little or no keyboard experience, you will need to take Piano 405 before and/or while you are completing your lower division musicianship and harmony requirements. For admission to Piano 405, you must take the Piano 405 Placement test, which is administered on the Friday of the first week of classes (by sign up). The sign up will be posted on the bulletin board outside room 107 during the first week of classes. Be sure to sign up.

This is not an audition. It is an eight-minute interview to determine what the student's piano skills are and whether Music 405 classes in piano are recommended to provide skills necessary for doing the major.
