Performances
The University of California Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of conductor David Milnes, performs concerts in Hertz Hall on the Berkeley campus each month throughout the academic year. The Orchestra specializes in repertoire from the classical, romantic, twentieth century and contemporary periods.
Recent concert programs have included works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Berlioz, Brahms, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Debussy, Ravel, Bartok, Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Copland, Barber and Gershwin among many others. Several new works by Berkeley faculty and student composers are premiered each year, and winners of the annual concerto competition are featured regularly.
The orchestra is open to all members of the university community by audition. Auditions are held at the beginning of each semester, and are scheduled by signing up in the lobby of Morrison Hall. Ticket information is available at (510) 642-9988.
