Melissa J. Scott, graduate student in ethnomusicology, received a Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) fellowship to conduct PhD dissertation fieldwork in Jordan, to begin June 2019. Her project, titled “Sounding Place: Arab Music and Humanitarian Sentiment in Jordan,” examines how musicians and music institutions intersect with humanitarian initiatives and rhetoric in order to better understand the affects and aesthetics emerging from, sustaining, and shaping humanitarianism in Jordan.
