2021 UNIVERSITY MEDALIST
Leyla Kabuli, a senior graduating in Music and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, is the winner of the 2021 University Medal, UC Berkeley’s highest undergraduate honor.

Assistant Professor Carmine Cella recently presented at the symposium titled “Fukushima 10 years,” organized by the University of California, Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley National laboratory
UC Berkeley’s Panel of Digital Media Artists, Conductors, and Musicians created a virtual gallery concert experience. Born from a collaboration between the UCBSO and UCB Department of Art Practice.
Heather Frasch (Ph.D. 2011) will be joining the team at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology NTNU as Associate Professor in Music Technology.
EDWIN DUGGER 1940-2021
The Department of Music mourns the loss of Professor Emeritus Edwin Dugger, who passed away in Charlottesville, Virginia on January 20, 2021 at the age of 80 after a long illness.
4 of the 5 finalists for the 2021 University Medal have strong ties to Berkeley Music. 3 Music Majors and a UCBSO participant were amongst the finalists.
Oren Boneh, Ph.D. in Music Composition (2021), has been awarded by the International Composition Competition a commission to create a new work for the famed ensemble Klangforum Wien to be premiered at the Impuls Festival in Graz, Austria, 2023.
