The Undergraduate Committee represents students in the Music Department and is a forum for advocacy and communication. We hear students’ concerns and work toward solutions while also planning special events that build community. Our goal is to do whatever is necessary to improve our music students’ experience here at Cal.
Welcome to the Undergraduate Committee webpage! We are an association run by undergraduate music students to serve as a voice to the students in the music department. We create, run events, and make changes in the music department to benefit the students. We have organized department-wide musical performances on Cal Day, created a successful Big/Little Program, monthly Free-Food Friday social events, and continuously advocate for the changes music students want to see in their department. We meet once a month on Mondays from 12-1 PM.
Name | Year | Major | Bio |
---|---|---|---|
Annalee Ambler | 2nd Year | Music, Certification in Entrepreneurship and Technology | I am a second-year majoring in Music, with a Certification in Entrepreneurship and Technology, and a minor in Korean. I am passionate about music technology, whether that be production or live sound! I am also a player in the UCB Javanese Gamelan Ensemble. |
Roberto Ocampo | 2nd Year | Music and Molecular & Cellular Biology | I am a drummer and guitarist. Some of my interests include reading, making/listening to music, going to death metal concerts and staying home. My favorite animals are cats, squirrels and birds. I speak 3 languages. I suppose it could be argued I am rather cool. |
Chinh Chinh Nguyen | 4th Year | Music and Environmental Economics & Policy | Hi! I’m CC, and I’m so excited to be part of UGC this year! I focus on piano performance and have been involved in ensembles and music classes, so I’m excited to bring my experience to the committee. I’m especially looking forward to organizing events and creating a fun, welcoming space for all music students—hopefully with a renovated student lounge, fingers crossed! Let’s make this year amazing for our department! :) |
Krish Gupta | 3rd Year | Music and Economics Major | I'm a big time audio gear nerd and am into all things effects and audio synthesis. My favourite artists are currently EXCISE DEPT and Stevie Wonder. Through UGC, I hope to help music students navigate their way and engage with other musicians at Cal. |
Vanness Yu | 2nd Year | Music and English | I am a second year transfer/senior majoring in both Music and English, and I'm currently studying piano with Betty Woo. Music has been a part of of my life, especially the piano which I've spent roughly 15 years of my life learning. I love listening to different types of music, and I would say my two favorite genres are hip-hop and classical. When I am not at piano and practicing, I enjoy reading, watching/playing basketball, and meeting new people. I joined the UGC to be able to help others to get to know the music department better, and I hope I can be of assistance to everyone! |
Owen Klein | 4th Year | Music Major | Owen is a fourth-year music major specializing in composition, theory, and vocal performance. In addition to his role in the UGC, he sings in the Chamber Chorus, provides composition and theory tutoring, and serves as the President of the Undergraduate Composers Club (UGCC). He enjoys making music, trail-running, biking, reading, drinking boba, and playing board games! |
Sarah Jones | 4th Year | Music and Spanish Major | Hi guys!! I’m a cellist in UCBPO, UCBSO, and Celli, and a viol player in UBE’s viol consort. When I’m not doing harmony homework or composing, I’m doing something Spanish or French related, or outside. Feel free to ask me any questions! |
Sheridan Eggers | 4th Year | Music and Sociology Major | Sheridan is a fourth-year music and sociology double major and has played the cello with UCBSO, UCBPO, UBE, and Celli@Berkeley. She enjoys being on the UGC because it allows her to voice concerns that undergraduate music students have and allow them to shape their experience at Berkeley. When she isn't studying, she loves hanging out with her friends from the music department, knitting, and spending time with her foster rabbits. |
Vincent Kurniawidjaja (Chair) | 4th Year | Music and Economics | Vincent is a fourth year student who currently leads the Music Undergraduate Committee. He has been involved in the Balinese Gamelan, Javanese Gamelan, and piano programs in the department, and has performed in multiple concerts. In his free time, Vincent likes to take walks, learn about personal finance, and play sports. |
