Prof. Mathew Shows Middle Schoolers Treasures from Department Collection

A recent field trip for Berkeley Middle School Students allowed them to view a few items from the department’s collection of exceptional instruments, the Salz Collection. Normally under tight lock and key, these lucky students got a chance to see an Amati viola from the 17th century as well as a music manuscript that was nearly 500 years old. Professor Mathew was there to convey the importance of the occasion, speaking to the extraordinary quality of the classical instrument and answering questions from the engaged students.
