Department Event Planning

All events must have a business purpose, guest list, and itemized receipts.  Submit these documents to the financial coordinator after the event occurs. 

I will have alcohol at my event. What do I need to do?

  • You MUST have a faculty or staff member PRESENT who will ensure that no one under 21 years old is served alcohol beverages.

  • Complete the alcohol permit at LEAST 14 days before the event. The alcohol permit request form can be found on the Berkeley UCPD’s Special Events Unit page

Does the department recommend any particular caterers?

Note that most caterers request you place your order at minimum one week ahead of the event, but ideally two or more weeks to ensure that they can accommodate your preferred delivery date and time.  Check with caterer regarding delivery minimums, delivery fees, and cancellation fees.  Keep in mind per person maximums(including costs for labor, sales tax, delivery charges, and other service fees) when finalizing your order

  • ACT Catering: (There is an overall order minimum of $250. Orders must be placed at least five days ahead. Delivery charges: 0-25 miles, $75. Must order min of 10 of the same item for non-veg option and min of 5 of the same item for veg option). 

  • Ann’s Catering (minimum for delivery: $250 plus $25 delivery fee.  For boxed lunches, must order a minimum of 5 of the same boxed lunch option)

  • Cal Caterers

  • La Mediterranee Berkeley Restaurant and Catering  (Minimum for delivery: $400 plus delivery fee for weekdays or $1000 plus delivery fee for weekends)

  • Market Hall Caterers(There is no minimum for Pickup. There is a $350 food minimum–not including beverages or delivery fee–for Delivery & Setup.)

  • Pacific Fine Foods ($50 Delivery to Berkeley & Albany / $80 All Day Delivery)

  • Pinx

  • SweetGreen(best for group size of 16 or less.  minimum order of $150 plus $25 delivery fee)
