Emma Moon

Emma Moon received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the Juilliard School where she studied with Julius Baker, former principal flutist of the New York Philharmonic. She also has degrees from Yale University where she majored in Sociology and studied concurrently at the School of Music. Her teachers there included Thomas Nyfenger and Ransom Wilson.

Formerly an acting member of the Utah Symphony/Utah Opera during its 2011-12 season and the Honolulu Symphony/Hawaii Opera Theater/ Chamber Music Hawaii for almost 10 years, Emma has performed with the Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra in NY, the Sun Valley Symphony in Idaho, the Cabrillo Festival in California, and the Chautauqua Orchestra in NY. Currently, she is principal flute of the Berkeley Symphony (formerly with Kent Nagano).

Solo appearances include concerti with the New Century Chamber Orchestra, Berkeley Akademie, Honolulu Symphony, and Hudson Valley Philharmonic. Emma has participated at the Spoleto, Tanglewood, Colorado, Evian, Sarasota, Waterloo, and Red Sea Festivals. She currently resides in San Jose and performs locally with various orchestras.
