Melanie Acosta

Melanie Acosta is a Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Arts degree in Music Therapy from New York University. Clinically, Melanie has provided Music Therapy in a variety of different settings including work with individuals with various neurodevelopmental and communication disorders, adults and children undergoing neurorehabilitation and individuals from infants to adults in medical settings. Melanie holds several Music Therapy certifications including a specialization in Neurologic Music Therapy, The Nordoff Robbins Approach to Music Therapy Certification Levels 1 and 2, and certifications for specialization in Music Therapy for infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Melanie is also a guest lecturer for the University of the Pacific’s Music Therapy Department.

Before returning to pursue her Masters degree for Music Therapy Melanie worked as a professional singer and dancer in multiple Broadway National Touring Companies including Miss Saigon, Grease! and Hair the 25th Anniversary Tour, as well as internationally in London’s West End Production of The King and I and Musical productions throughout Germany including Miss Saigon and Les Miserables. As a concert and session recording singer for such artists as Harry Belafonte and Galt MacDermot, Melanie toured and performed throughout the USA and Europe in such venues as Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, the London Palladium and The Olympia in Paris.
